A beautiful pub, wonderfully restored. I'm pleased to find it open, having been unsuccessful in the past. In fact it's busy.

10:45 Made very welcome. Unfortunately no cask ale on as the Landlord and Landlady had been on holiday and the order hadn't gone in. We enjoyed bottled beers and I had an excellent breakfast.

The pub is found in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 5HP.
Art-deco pub in Dunmow Road, dating from 1936 and on CAMRA's Heritage pub list. There have been changes over the last seventy eight years including the loss of the off licence at the front but it has been restored in keeping with the Art-Deco heritage. The two tiny cubbyholes seating two people opposite the bar are noteworthy. There are three handpumps on the bar counter.
