Evening until close. Nearly passed it by as it was so low-lit as to seem closed. Quiet and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Marston's - Pedigree4.50ExcellentHonestly the best Pedi I have had in London for a long time. Served without restrictor unlike at The Argyll Arms earlier, where this beer had been turned into a silky cream foam

12:30 Second stop of the day. As Mr Harris has noted lots of old features remain, the numerous doorways giving a clue to the rooms that the pub once had. Lincrusta ceiling also noteworthy. The pub was fairly quiet considering the location and the time of day.

Many years ago I had a holiday job as a fabrics porter at Liberty’s, but resigned after one week when I realised that I had spent more in here on after-work beer than appeared in my first week’s pay packet. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the fundamental reason why we now have a minimum wage.

The pub is found in Soho, Central London, W1B 5QH.

A long-established pub that has been present here since the mid-eighteenth century. The present building dates from the late-1890s and is typical of the period. Prior to rebuilding, the pub had been called the Bricklayers Arms, taking the Clachan name in 1897. Some old features have survived, including a high, moulded ceiling, gilded iron pillars, some floor mosaics and some carved wood on the now island bar counter. There is a little raised seating area at the rear. Upstairs is the Liberty Bar and Dining Room and the toilets. The ground floor bar is bare-boarded and its counter has 10 handpumps.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 20 different beers and tried 3 of them.
