14:45 Once again not a 'Spoons but too good an interior to pass by. The party were most impressed, especially with the triangular stove. Fairly quiet.

Only the main rear bar is open tonight and it is bustling with a mix of tourists and local office workers.

A late afternoon visit found this pub un-crowded. A good opportunity to sit quietly in the back bar and take in the magnificent surroundings.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00AcceptableA pale, fruity and rather woody bitter, served with a creamy head.

This is a truely lovely pub, but the cask beer hasn't been up to much on my last few visits.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00PoorNot much more than brown water to be honest.

It's always quite quiet here at the weekends I find which is great as you can get a seat. The three of us sat in a booth and talked about Yorkshire (I think).

Mid afternoon and it wasn't too busy. We got a booth and had a couple of pints.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Samuel Smith's - Old Brewery Bitter4.00AcceptableAmber with lasting thin beige head. Caramel aroma, no real yeast or hop on aroma. It’s ok in mouth but a bit thin. Bit bland overall. Drinkable. "It’s better when it comes in the mouth than when you swallow," as my Danish companion said. Not as good as I remember but also not terrible. It’s a bitter, some malty fruit towards the finish. Some drying hop on end.

The pub is found in Chancery Lane, Central London, WC1V 6BS.

This is a great Samuel Smith's pub near Chancery Lane tube station. The hall at the rear on the ground floor has high wood beamed ceilings. The bar that runs along the side has large oak beer vats looming over it and the seating is in snug booths. This is definitely one to visit when in central London.

We have visited this pub 7 times, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
