Called in for lunch. Very pleasant but pricey.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30AcceptableAdequate. Suspect it needed pulling through.

Quite in the Snug but an open fire and dog friendly. What's not to like?
BeerABVScoreNotes
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30ExcellentSo much better. Fresh, crisp some biscuit and honey and a good dry, bitter finish. Pint one explains why some people just won't try real ale again.
Timothy Taylor - Landlord4.30PoorNew cask but I strongly suspect it hadn't been pulled through.
Houston - Slainte4.10Not TriedNo one seemed to be drinking this. Landlord clearly the preferred beer.
29 Aug 2015 (McGargle)
Sat outside in the sun.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Broughton - Clipper IPA4.20AcceptableMore than a touch of home brew. Why 3*? My team won.

Log fire roaring in the bar. Wet dogs amd walkers drying out.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Drygate - Pale Duke4.00Goodwell crafted and perfectly acceptable old style pale ale. Madea pleasant change not to be overwhelmed by New World hops.

Been coming since the early 1990s when Thwaites Craftsman on air font was the draw. Today the Snug reamins a comfortable spot and on this visit was very quiet.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Cromarty - Hit The Lip3.80AcceptableThe cask had been disturbed so the beer poured both a little hazy and yeasty. Perfectly drinkable though and good marks to the barman for warning that it might not be in the best condition.
Belhaven - Caledonian Deuchars IPA3.80Not Tried

The pub is found in Netherley, Aberdeenshire, AB39 3QS.

Just off the backroad from Maryculter to Stonehaven, The Lairhillock sits in open country. It's very much food led; especially in the Lounge and Conservatory. Of more interest to drinkers is the Snug Bar. Here it's all cosy corners, open fires, dark wood and horse brasses. Usually serves three ales and is dog friendly.

We have visited this pub 8 times, seen 11 different beers and tried 6 of them.
