Early evening visit. This pub is quite small by Wetherspoon standards and was pretty busy – no seats available. Only three cask beers on, but at least the pump-clips had been removed where beers had expired.

Vale - Metamorphosis4.50GoodAmber-coloured. Nice hop flavours.
Liberation (formerly called Jersey) - American Brown Ale4.20AcceptableThe malt and hops balance too much on the malt side for my liking – would have liked some more US hop flavours.

The pub is found in Fareham, Hampshire, PO16 0JW.

Unusually for a Wetherspoon house, the Crown was a well-established pub before the chain’s 2009 takeover. A town centre pub that has been here since at least the 1840s, brewing its own beer as the Crown Brewery in the early days. Although heavily branded inside, the pub retains much of its historic appearance.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 2 of them.
