It has the feel from the outside of a housing estate pub, but inside it feels more like a good working mens club. Good brewerania on the walls. Pool table, dart board. Definite public/lounge bar split. The landlord was excellent, suggesting beers from the Winters range and the locals were friendly too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Winter's - Bitter3.80AcceptableHazy gold, lasting beige head. Very tangeriney, the flavours last in the mouth. Bit of hop to balance. Quite drinkable, bit of washing up liquid to the fruits, but otherwise fine.
Winter's - Golden4.10AcceptableGold, lasting beige head. Good grapefruity golden bitter, bit sweet maybe, not as sharp and hoppy on finish as I would probably like. A bit nutty. Bit of candy sugar, some sherbert and hop.
Winter's - Mild3.60AcceptableIt's a dark mild. Nice malt finish. Very dark brown with lasting beige head. Decent dark roasted aroma, oddly perfumed for a mild (parfait amour). Good tingle on end. A mild to keep you interested.
Winter's - Geniuss Stout4.30AcceptableVery very deep ruby with lasting beige head. Choccy smooth stout. Slightly sweet, but a rather choc/charcoal finish. Bit of dark toffee. Actually a bit too sweet for me. Decent timgly finish though.
Winter's - Storm Force5.30Not TriedIn a polypin behind the bar.

With it's high ceilings and darkened rooms this pub has a Dickensian feel to it. The landlord was great and gave us free samples of his beer. Well worth a visit.
