It’s remarkable to see just how upmarket this pub has become. A far cry from when it was the haunt of local gangsters.

Howling Hops (Brewed at Hackney Wick) - Tropical Deluxe3.80ExcellentVery pale indeed and full of tropical fruit flavours. Seemingly just as fresh from cask here as direct from the tanks at the brewery, but overall with a more mellow taste.

I had been looking for a quieter time to return to this pub to photograph the clock on the wall, which resembles an old Twister. Relevant pub games experts have been notified.

Signature Brew - Red Wedge4.70PoorThis tastes as if it might actually be the same cask that was on last time I came here.

This pub has just re-opened after refurbishment – the emphasis is now on food rather than darts. A packed house tonight.

The pub is found in Bow, Greater London, E3 2DA.

A side street pub close to Mile End tube station. Originally the Osborne Arms, it had by 1842 become the Coborn Arms. It was acquired by Young’s Brewery from Whitbread’s in 1984, having at one time been a Lacons house. The pub was subsequently extended into the house next door, and in 2015 was given a substantial facelift and refurbishment to move the pub significantly upmarket.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 3 of them.
