A relaxing early afternoon drink. One of my favourite Edinburgh pubs.

Early evening visit after a superb visit to the Caledonian Brewery. The Tenents drinkers were no longer sitting in front of the handpumps so I can now list all the beers. I brought three friends here and they liked the place. Still one of the Edinburgh pubs that refuses to use auto vacs.

After the Glasgow pub crawl the night before, none of us were in very good shape. This was the first pub on the Edinburgh crawl on the Friday and probably suffered from us not paying too much attention. The haggis lunch was very nice and the landlord was very good about hosting such a large group in such a small pub. Full of atmosphere and one I would recommend to visitors as it is so close to the station.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Broughton - Greenmantle 80/-4.20GoodGold, lasting beige head. It’s fine. Citrusy bitter with some tangerine. Good condition, decent hop on end and nice citrus flavours overall. Considering I had a whopping hangover, this was perfectly acceptable.
Broughton - Reiver IPA3.80AcceptableGold, lasting white head. Fine. It’s a standard gollden bitter, soft in the mouth.
Belhaven - EPA (Edinburgh Brewing Co.)3.40AcceptableFine, a little bit light in the mouth due to the lowish ABV, some caramel/hop. Fine.

Lovely little place with a warm welcome tucked down a side street with four ale engines.
