Afternoon - not too busy - time and space to clear e-mails before my train. More importantly time to reflect on a very pleasant trip to this north-eastern gem of a city. I like the grandeur of the buildings and the statues and monuments - old and new.

Swift visit mid afternoon before my train. Quiet - very few in but looks to be a good bustling venue at other times - grand layout and a good selection of beers.

14:30 The last time I came here in the early seventies it was called the Victoria & Comet and was a very stark pub with fizz Exhibition. I think it may have featured in Get Carter. Totally unrecognisable from those days. Main clientele appeared to be travellers with luggage. Interesting chat with the Manager about the Hop Circle app.
