Visits Details

12 Sep 2023 (Magnus Greel)
Early to late evening on our last day before home tomorrow. Possibly the best bar for service, beers, ambience and clientèle amongst all visited and convenient for our hotel being a 10 minute walk away. Busiest we've seen it with many groups in a buzzing atmosphere and hubbub of conversations made easy with no unnecessarily loud music blaring. I wonder if Colin will return after giving this place my blessing!

Great Lakes - Octopus Wants To Fight6.20ExceptionalFaultless nectar - a joy to drink a few pints for our last evening. Sadly my friends aren't P&B scribes to share the love..

Very quiet for a Sunday evening just a few others dotted about so we had the choice of where to perch at the bar..

Not as busy as our previous visit so we got updates on all the beer and brewing news in the local and pan local area from the knowledgeable and enthusiastic bar staff.

Early evening and buzzing cellar bar atmosphere, we found 3 seats at the bar and enjoyed a few pints of cask ale amongst a sea of clone keg beers.

Ah another scribe has beaten me to this one, mid evening and busy with folk of all ages in this cavernous cellar bar and a superb beer range to boot. Well worth a visit if in the area.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Royal City - Dry Hopped Exhibition IPA4.50ExcellentThe Mosaic hop is unmistakable in this beer. Really great sharp, fruity tang that gives a long aftertaste, mellowing to sweetness
C'est What - Al's Cask Ale4.30GoodA balanced, citrusy pale ale.

Lively brew pub with friendly helpful staff. Good food but unfortunately the author can't find his beer notes from the evening so no beers posted. Would return if given the opportunity so couldn't have been bad.
