Early evening, a diverted visit due to the King William IV still closed for refurbishment. As per my last visit mainly food oriented however the many tables outside the pub were busy with drinkers.

Mid-afternoon on Sunday and the place is jammed full of families eating roast dinners, with many young children present. Not the place for a quiet pint at this time.

The pub is found in Walthamstow, Greater London, E17 9LB.

The Castle opened in 1858, initially as a beer house. Throughout the twentieth century it was a Charrington’s house, retaining two separate bars until the 1970s and keeping its Charrington’s windows until 2006. Today it is a modernised, single bar pub with pavements tables at the front and a garden area to one side.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 7 different beers and tried 3 of them.
