Mid-evening and much quieter than I have seen it here before, with around a dozen tables occupied by diners and a handful at the bar.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Alphabeta - Smoked Porter4.60GoodBlack in colour. Smokey and a bit winey.
Alphabeta - Hefe4.80GoodA hazy, golden colour. A German-style Hefeweiss from a cask. I’m not sure that I’ve had a beer of this sort from cask before; nothing springs to mind anyway.

Early evening and filling rapidly with both drinkers and diners. Impressive beer I thought, and the food looks great too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Alphabeta - Wild Hop IPA5.50ExcellentGolden. A bitter IPA in English style, with a long finish.
Alphabeta - Ginger & Rye4.30ExcellentAmber in colour. Full-bodied. Ginger flavours dominate.
Alphabeta - Oak Ale4.30Not Tried
24 May 2016 (Stephen Harris)
A very welcome new development, at a time when London’s boom in new brewery openings seemed to have faltered just a little. It became increasingly busy in the early evening, with every dining space soon taken and the small group of drinkers pushed into an ever smaller space. Not in an unpleasant way though.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Alphabeta - Smoked Porter4.60GoodNear black in colour. Smooth. Good smoky flavours; I like it.
Alphabeta - Red Rye5.30AcceptableReddish-amber in colour. Does have rye flavours but very soft and with an overall malty taste.
Alphabeta - Best Bitter3.80Not Tried
Alphabeta - Oak Ale4.30Not Tried

The pub is found in Aldgate, Central London, EC2M 4YP.

A restaurant, bar and brewery in a restored former bonded warehouse close to Liverpool Street railway station. The whole operation has seen a rapid growth, in a couple of stages, from a mobile food truck to this impressive, large premises which opened in the spring of 2016. Most of the floor space is taken up with dining tables, but customers in just for a drink are made welcome and there is a small bar area to the left as you come in. The shiny brewery kit is visible behind the bar. Four handpumps on the bar. Closed summer 2019 and the brewery too. Re-opened with new name on 2023 as a karaoke bar with no real ale.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 5 of them.
