Lunchtime. Decided to try this after seeing the other entries. The pub was empty when we arrived and to be honest it would have been a bit depressing if another similarly minded couple hadn’t shown up shortly after. We sat on the benches by the road and had a good natter.

Early to mid evening, fairly busy we sat in the left hand bar and joined the merry locals who'd been here far longer. The cosy atmosphere created by the previous soft warm lighting has been replaced by a rather harsh clinical fluorescent tube.

The pub is found in Pontfaen, Pembrokeshire, SA65 9SE.

This much-loved pub, a reminder of how many country pubs must once have looked, is the hub of life in a secluded valley whose distinctive cultural traditions include a long history of farmhouse brewing. There is no bar counter - beer is still served by the jug through a sliding serving hatch. Conversation is the main form of entertainment, and the pub's relaxed atmosphere is captivating. A timeless gem to be treated with respect. Unfortunately this pub suffered serious fire damage, but fortunately with no personal injuries, on 24 February 2019 and closed until July 2019 when it re-opened.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 1 beer and tried it.
