I had been aware for a while that plenty of pubs were now 'open' in my local area, but had resisted temptation up to now. Beer being sold here in plastic cups from a doorway on proviso that it could not be drunk on pub property. This meant nobody could sit on the pub's benches, but people were standing drinking on the pavement. We took ours across the road to the park. I'm not sure what else was available - my friend drank Guinness.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 4QJ.

This pub has been present since at least the early eighteenth century, and lends its name to a nearby bridge over the Regent’s Canal. There have been a few variations on the pub’s name over the years. Traditionally a Charrington’s Brewery house, that brewery has left its mark on some of the window panels and there are one or two pleasing, surviving features inside. On the whole though this is a much-modernised house, with single, large bars at ground floor and first floor levels. There are also a few pavement tables. There are four handpumps on the bar counter, usually dispensing London-brewed beers.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 12 different beers and tried 5 of them.
