Friendly welcome for a busy late Friday afternoon we were directed to the empty upstairs bar with it's most convenient roof terrace offering a refreshing breeze in what would have been a rather stuffy enviroment.

Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Black Pearl Oyster Stout6.20ExcellentNot as effervescent as I was expecting for this rich dark chocolate coffee and nuts treat..

After a few weak beers time for some big hitters

Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - Black Pearl Oyster Stout6.20Good£4.50 a pint but it went down well
Burning Sky - Pretty Mess IPA7.00GoodAnother Key Keg beer at £6.60 a pint. Nice.
07 Jun 2017 (Philip Pirrip)
Mid evening visit. We entered from the High Street but drank by the lower Marine Drive door. No cask beer and as the Kernel was reasonably priced I tried one, allegedly sold on KeyKeg dispense.

Kernel (The Kernel) - Table Beer (Simcoe & Amarillo)3.20AcceptableOK but seemed gassy

Pub number 5. This gave Ian the chance to talk about Belgium beer.

Again I’m in here as an alternative to the Fez, which is full to bursting point with live music drawing the crowds. It is very relaxed in here, with a steady through-flow of people in the short time I’m in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Birrifico Italiano - Asteroid 560136.50ExcellentOn keg dispense. A somewhat random choice from the long beer list. It turned out to be lovely (and pricey) – golden and hoppy.

I actually stumbled upon this little bar by chance when looking for the Fez and liked it so much that the Fez (just a couple of doors away as it turned out) will have to wait for another day. It had a bit of a ‘Hackney-on-Sea’ atmosphere here, with lots of beards, woolly jumpers and pampered toddlers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Time and Tide - New Rose4.90ExcellentFrom a keg of some sort. A hazy gold colour. A rose-petal flavoured Saison. Lovely. Tasted like slightly soured, liquid Turkish Delight.
Alpine - Willy Vanilly5.50ExcellentFrom a keg. Another hazy, golden beer and a really unusual one (from California). A German-style Weissbier at heart, it is vanilla-flavoured and has a creamy texture.
Time and Tide - Spratwaffler Pale Ale3.70GoodFrom a keg of some sort. A tasty, pale, hoppy beer. This glass spoiled a little by over-carbonation.

The pub is found in Margate, Kent, CT9 1DH.

A small bar with seating at two levels to reflect its two entrances, one on the High Street and one on Marine Drive. Opened in 2016 as part of the growing Bottle Shop chain; like other outlets this one specialises in KeyKeg, keg, canned and bottled beers but does not have any handpumps on the bar. Closed suddenly end of March 2019 with administrators involved. Re-opened with new name in May 2019 but essentially the same keg, bottled and canned offerings as before. Further financial problems ensued and new owners and a further re-naming followed later in 2019. Thanet CAMRA branch Cider Pub of the Year 2022.

We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 8 different beers and tried them all.
