Lunchtime. Cycled here to meet up with 3 veteran Potterers. Only two other customers, good fire on the go. Food was fine apparently. Hard going making a living out in the sticks in January I imagine.

Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00GoodIn very good condition but a whopping £5.40 a pint.

We were walking on the nearby hill and came passed hoping to get a pint but we were 15 mins to early and so carried on. I did peer in the window though to see what they had on.

It was such a nice day that we went for a walk around Perry wood and finished off here. Friendly landlady and the pub's garden is lovely looking straight into the wood.

Jane and I had an afternoon to ourselves so we can for a walk on the hill and a pint in the pub. I've not been here for a while but little has changed. Lovely little place in the woods.

Hadn't been to Perry Wood for well over a year. 3 beers on draught. Tried the Harveys Sussex, which I have invariably tried on previous visits but it was poor and lifeless. Attempted the Adnams Southwold Bitter, but this too suffered from lack of regular volume to keep it fresh.

Went for a picnic in the woods whilst the weather was still good enough and decided to pop in for a half on the walk back. Pub garden was quite busy but we got a seat fine.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hepworth - Sussex Pale Ale3.60GoodNice. Pale orange-gold. Nice orange peel notes and a leafy hop finish. Vaguely reminiscent of Goacher's Light
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedHad a sip of Jane's and it tasted very good.

Here with my folks for lunch. Great atmospheric weather outside with autumn leaves, heavy grey skies, shafts of sunlight and showers. Pub got busy around 2pm.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00ExcellentExcellent condition. All you'd want from Harveys except, perhaps, for a bit of fruit it can sometimes have.
Adnams - Southwold Bitter3.70GoodExcellent condition. The initial flavours were really good; red berry and tangy malt. The finish was good and hoppy in a pepperynettly way.
