Early evening and there are a few after-work groups in.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Neckstamper - Mizzle6.00ExcellentProbably from key-keg I think. A milky-complexion NEIPA. Full-bodied and bitter. Really good.
Husk - Derek's Bitter3.50GoodA golden, session-strength Bitter with a nice malt and hops balance.
Marble - Tropical Sour Saison5.50GoodKeg-dispense. A collaboration with Walthamstow’s Wild Card Brewery. Hazy gold, fruity and sour.

Early to mid-evening. The pub is fairly quiet, although I notice that it is deemed necessary to have a bouncer on the door.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Neckstamper - Session IPA (Azacca/Ekuanot)4.20ExcellentFrom key-keg. Hazy gold and well-hopped. Bitter.
Neckstamper - Squencher IPA5.40ExcellentFrom key-keg. Golden. A really nice, fruity, US-style IPA. I even kidded myself that I could taste pineapple.
Redemption - Hopspur4.50GoodFresh and hoppy.
Husk - Steam Beer5.20AcceptableDescribed as a Brown Ale, although it is more of an amber colour to my eye. Unfiltered. A smooth mouthfeel.
Redemption - Pale Ale3.80Not Tried
Redemption - Victorian Mild (collaboration with The Kernel)6.00Not TriedOn the pumps and ready to go – but being launched “tomorrow”.

Mid-evening visit after work. It is hot and sticky tonight and I soon switched to the cooler key-keg beers.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Neckstamper - Moon Curser APA5.20ExcellentFrom key-keg. A golden beer with luscious fruity tastes – peachy.
Five Points - Field Day Citrus Pale4.20ExcellentFrom key-keg. Golden, dry and lemony.
Redemption - Trinity3.00GoodA tasty, low-strength beer – this example could have been fresher.

A good crowd in here for opening night included brewery bigwigs, beer-spotter types and wide-eyed locals, incredulous that somebody is attempting to do something good in the area. As well as six Redemption cask beers on the bar, I noticed that the fridges were bursting with products from other London micros.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Redemption - Fellowship Porter5.10ExcellentI love a good Porter, and this is a really good one.
Redemption - Big Chief5.50ExcellentTop-notch IPA in really good form. Close to a five star beer.
Redemption - Hopspur4.50AcceptableRedemption’s regular dark Bitter and to be honest, I’ve tasted better examples.

The pub is found in Bow, Greater London, E3 3QX.

In Devons Road, established by the 1880s as the Bricklayers Arms, this pub was rebuilt as an estate pub, probably in the 1930s. In its day it was a Watney’s Brewery house. In recent years it has passed through a succession of names and themes, including Kitsons and the Liquor Inn. Looking very tired and unloved in the early years of the twenty-first century, the pub has started in 2017 a new lease of life as the Angel of Bow. It is now a joint venture, with Redemption Brewery as one of the partners. Refurbished and redecorated, with six handpumps on the bar. There is one open plan bar space inside, with some patio seating at the front.

We have visited this pub 4 times, seen 18 different beers and tried 12 of them.
