22 Apr 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
Quiet footfall for last 30 minutes of serving with just a handful of hardened regulars in and a few fiddlers out the back.
Crouch Vale - Amarillo | 5.00 | | Second night on for this Essex-based golden ale from South Woodham Ferrers and still coming up with a good head and lacing. A first hit of floral hoppiness from those Amarillo hops and so hence the ale's name. A woody oiliness in the mouthfeel alongside spicy orange flavourings and so presenting some fruitiness lingering but not severely. |
Southwark - Bermondsey Best | 4.40 | | Second night on and holding its head and lacing well on this Southwark best bitter. A very malty first hit. A bitterness minus any fruitiness present. A dry spicy and honey-infused hoppiness from those East Kent Goldings accompanying a caramel-infused maltiness lingering. |
Oakham - Bishops Farewell | 4.60 | Not Tried
Oakham - Citra | 4.20 | Not Tried
Tonbridge - Golden Rule (was 3.5%) | 3.20 | Not Tried

20 Apr 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
Quiet footfall for last 40 minutes of serving with just a handful of Sunday regulars in on this Easter Sunday.
Oakham - Bishops Farewell | 4.60 | | Fresh on was this Peterborough golden ale today and presenting good head and lacing. A hoppy first hit from those Cascade and Challenger hops. An oily hoppiness in the mouthfeel and a fruitiness rising up to a crescendo with citrusy hints then presenting themselves. A dry fruity and hoppy aftertaste lingering. |
Bexley - Mocha Stout | 5.50 | | Third night on for this Erith-based stout from SE London and so holding its head and lacing well. A first hit of a box of dark chocolates. A maltiness coming to the fore in the mouthfeel and a slight sourness lingering. |
Indie Rabble - Ahoy-Hoy | 4.00 | | Second night on for this Windsor pale and now not holding a good head and lacing unlike the evening before. Still bouncing with a hoppy first hit. A tropical fruit-infused hoppiness in the mouthfeel and lasting to the end. |

19 Apr 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
The last visit of the day having hit the London buffers. Not overly busy for the last 40 minutes of serving but with the Saturday regulars on parade and a few more occasional in as well.
Bexley - Mocha Stout | 5.50 | | Second night on and still holding its head and lacing well on this Erith-based stout from SE London. A coffee and chocolatey-infused malty first hit. A dry bitterness then winning through and chocolatey malts in the aftertaste pervading. |
Indie Rabble - Ahoy-Hoy | 4.00 | | Fresh on today and good head and lacing on this Windsor pale. Not come across Indie Rabble Brewing Company before and just 5 minutes from Windsor Central Station and which opened in 2023. A hoppy first hit. A fruity tropical explosion then came to the fore with a fruit-infused hoppiness, aided by being hopped with Huell Melon and Mosaic, persisted. |
Tonbridge - Golden Rule (was 3.5%) | 3.20 | | Cannot recall trying this golden pale ale from East Peckham, north-east of Tonbridge, before. Fresh on today and yet minimal head and lacing was presented on it and quickly vanished. A mildly fruity citrusy first hit. A hoppiness shining through in the mouthfeel with the odd hint of spice and lingering from two Kent varieties, Challenger and Cascade, and one German hop variety. Rather lacklustre in flavouring. One sufficed. |

18 Apr 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
Pretty much all the Friday regulars in for last 30 minutes of serving and the more occasional regulars in, too, and mixed in with the otherwise more occasional visitor. Charlton FC were playing at home this Bank Holiday Good Friday and managed to win and all of the beers from yesterday were supped up on my arrival this evening and aided by some of their supporters in earlier!
Oakham - Maelstrom Cask Aged | 5.00 | | Very good head and lacing and lasting on this Peterborough IPA and so reflecting its first night on and as you would expect. A very hoppy first hit. A citrusy fruit-infused hoppy mouthfeel with the odd tropical fruit waiting to jump out at you and living on into the aftertaste. |
Southwark - Bankside Blonde | 3.80 | | Minimal head and lacing on this Southwark-based blonde ale and not lasting and yet fresh on today. A lemony first hit. A dry hoppiness presented itself in the mouthfeel and with the odd tropical fruit erupting and lingering. |
Blackjack - Pub Ale Best Bitter | 4.20 | | Fresh on today but not much head and lacing and not lasting on this Manchester-based best bitter. A sweetish first hit from those malty and biscuity flavourings. A bitterness then presented itself in the mouthfeel and winning over its sweetness and lingering. One sufficed due to being rather flat. |
Vibrant Forest - Otto | 4.20 | Not Tried
Bexley - Mocha Stout | 5.50 | Not Tried
Brew York - Kaijuice | 4.40 | Not Tried | Marked as 4.8% on the tasting notes. |

17 Apr 2025 (Hogan Sampling)
Busy for last 30 minutes of serving with usual regulars in and the more occasional as well.
Tonbridge - New Zealand Pale | 4.50 | | First night on for this New Zealand pale from East Peckham, north-east of Tonbridge, and so holding its head and lacing well. A first hit of honey-infused toffee. A kick in the mouthfeel with an explosion of tropical fruits, gooseberry, citrus peel and pepper. A hoppiness and fruitiness lingering alongside the odd bitter flavouring. |
Brew York - Keras | 3.50 | | Third night on and still holding its head and lacing on this York-based pale ale. Slightly hoppy on the first hit. Citrusy and pine flavours came to the fore in the mouthfeel and a dry hoppiness lived on. |
Oakham - Green Devil IPA | 6.00 | | Fourth night on for this Peterborough-based single hop IPA and rather tired. Head and lacing held but a decant was necessary. A somewhat vinegary first hit. A sharp fruity touch in the mouthfeel followed by an explosion of hops on the taste buds and lingering. |

Southwark - Mayflower Session IPA | 4.20 | Not Tried

Ticking over for the last 30 minutes of serving with some regulars out the front, among the more occasional, and the fiddlers out the back.
Oakham - Green Devil IPA | 6.00 | | Second night on for this Peterborough-based IPA and presented with superb head and lacing and which lasted. A sweetish and hoppy resinous first hit. A fruity mouthfeel from all those tropical and citrus hop flavours coming to get you. A dry fruited hoppiness lingering. |
Brew York - Keras | 3.50 | | Fresh on this evening and very good head and lacing on this York-based pale ale. A first hit of fruity hops. A mildly fruity mouthfeel and a lingering hoppiness lasting with citrus and pine hints in the aftertaste. |
Neepsend - Vulcan | 3.90 | | Second night on. Apparently very good the previous evening. Some head and lacing on being presented this Sheffield bitter but not for long. A bitter first hit. A malty bitterness then came to the fore. Made with East Kent Goldings and Challenger hops, the latter was behind some citrusy and spicy notes hitting the taste buds. A dry bitterness lingered on. |
