Lunchtime. Met a couple of other cyclists there. We sat in the garden which is the other side of a narrow access road for other properties. One of the nearest village pubs to my home - very pleasant staff, but not really tempted to revisit soon.

early evening - big log fire (welcome despite the month ) - a few early eaters, couple of drinkers and their dogs. Nice ambience for a Monday.

Shepherd Neame - Early Bird4.30ExcellentI'm not a great Shep's fan - but this was in excellent condition, fresh and hoppy. Worthy of a 4.

What a nice pub! We were the only people in when we arrived so we chatted to the landlord. Pub started to fill up at around nine and was really busy towards the end of the night. From talking to the landlord it sounds like they're struggling a bit lately, which is a shame because this is a great pub.

Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70GoodI've been meaning to give this another chance for a long time now. I haven't had it in years and didn't used to like it so this one came as a surprise. I actually enjoyed it, lots of biscuit with plenty of malt as well. A good session bitter.
Shepherd Neame - Late Red4.50GoodRich and fruity with a slightly woody taste to it. Nicely malty with a nice mild hoppy flavour. I had a few of these and they were all good.

The pub is found in Chartham, Kent, CT4 7JQ.

Large two-roomed pub in a very old attractive building. Lots of wooden beams inside and the walls have all warped over the years.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 3 different beers and tried them all.
