Dave and I sat beside the fireplace in one of the rear bars and enjoyed the bustle in this busy pub.

Five Points - Five Points Pale4.40ExcellentIn superb condition and full of flavour. This may have been the special 'all British hops' edition of this beer.

Early evening and, for a somewhat tucked-away pub, it is very busy here.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Dark Star - Hophead (some has also been brewed by Fuller's)3.80AcceptableA somewhat lacklustre pint. I’m not sure if it is just a bit past its best or whether this reflects reduced quality ambitions from whoever is brewing it these days.

The pub is found in Hackney, Greater London, E8 3AG.

When this area of Hackney was developed, a series of large and well-appointed pubs were included in the development, several of which still stand and this is perhaps the best preserved of them. It has been present since at least 1861 and was traditionally a Whitbread house. Located in one of Hackney’s poshest streets, it retains five separate rooms – a front bar, two rear bars, a games room and a snug beyond. There is also a front garden area. Five handpumps on the bar. Wooden floorboards throughout. There are some rather sad and faded stuffed birds which have been present since at least the early 1980s and an equally long-standing, huge world map to admire. Something of a Hackney institution.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 6 different beers and tried 2 of them.
