I dread to think how many years it is since I was last in here – or what the circumstances were of that visit. For old times’ sake, we sit in the corner that has some old band and vinyl memorabilia on the wall. Dave is very happy with the beer selection here, me less so – it is the opposite of our previous call with not a well-hopped beer in sight.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Skinner's - Cornish Knocker Ale4.50AcceptableA rather ordinary, pale Bitter which used to be ubiquitous, but which I have not seen for a while.
Wadworth - Swordfish5.00AcceptableA strong, sweetish, tangy, dark Bitter with more than a whiff of rum. Not to my taste, but acceptable.

The pub is found in Islington, Central London, N1 1RL.

A street corner pub of around 1880, now Grade II listed. Probably Islington’s most famous pub – to anyone over the age of 45 anyway. Its fame / notoriety stems from the days when it was a rather grungy live music venue, promoting many bands that later went on to achieve fame of their own at larger venues and many more who were never heard of again. Those days are gone now and the pub is somewhat smartened and has a small theatre space upstairs. Six handpumps on the bar.

We have visited this pub once, seen 5 different beers and tried 2 of them.
