Early evening, friendly welcome and fairly quiet we were promptly seen by the chap outside directing folk to vacant tables where we enjoyed our beers.

Lunchtime friendly welcome especially from an elderly couple who paused their lunch to tell me about the hand pumped preserved fire appliances located in the rather impressive church opposite the village green. I could have stayed longer here if I wasn't catching the 1358 bus to Ramsbury.

The pub is found in Aldbourne, Wiltshire, SN8 2EN.

Grade II listed building. Partly 17th and 19th century. The Blue Boar existed in 1822, was closed in 1911 and reopened in or before 1931. A Sarah Pearce was the landlady in 1842 and a Stephen Everett in 1867. The pub is linked to the 101st Airborne Easy Company (Band of Brothers), who were based in Aldbourne in the run up to D-Day. It was then frequented by officers; enlisted men had to use the Bell Inn - no longer a pub. It shot to fame in the 1970s when it figured in The Daemons - part of the Dr Who series - as the Cloven Hoof.

We have visited this pub 3 times, seen 8 different beers and tried 3 of them.
