Made it at last. Lunch with family. Very good food, superb interior with nooks and crannies and plenty of curios. Shame about the beer - but a very acceptable cider from north of the border. Restricted opening times which may have something to do with the state of the single real ale available. No badge, told it was Cascade from Angels and Demons, barely drinkable.

Spotted this pub back in the Summer but not during opening hours. So I checked whatpub to ensure it would be open, donned my winter cycling gear and cycled 20 hilly miles to get a well-earned lunchtime pint. A carpenter working in the front garden told me it was closed, “winter opening times”. I will return (and email whatpub).
