Tuesday evening - very quiet in the town centre but this pub was reasonably busy, albeit customers well spaced out due to COVID. Good choice of ales and managed a chat with a couple of locals at an adjacent table. Despite the restrictions this felt like a good old boozer.

Rat - White Rat4.00ExcellentWell balanced pale, hoppy beer.
Rat - Randall Pump4.00ExcellentBadged as - White Rat with experimental hops - condition was very good and the flavour had a more hoppy, bitter bite than the White Rat. Very pleasant.

Town centre traditional pub in Shrewsbury Road, established in 1865 with 2 bars plus restaurant that includes an "Over 50s safe zone". Basic public bar. Less basic saloon with dark wood panelling around doors including the restaurant entrance which looks like a grand old wardrobe with the doors missing.

We have visited this pub twice, seen 5 different beers and tried 3 of them.
