First ones in at noon. We had visited the Castle (the real one) and walked around this buzzing market town. It is an interesting building with great history and a prime location. However it felt very corporate and rather soulless. The beer choice was rather boring. We sat in the sunshine and looked down on the canal.

Extremely large Grade II listed house stretching from the main High Street through to the Thanet canal* behind. Two separate serving bar areas (fore and aft) plus a terrace overlooking the canal. Close to the Castle (the real one and the nearby pub). * Thanet Canal, also known as the Springs Branch, is a short branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried 1 of them.
