Early evening. Covid 19 precautions being adhered to conscientiously. We sat outside in the garden with our dogs, while inside the pub quickly filled up with diners.

Pleasantly busy Sunday lunchtime. We sat in the garden under the apple trees. A group of locals were discussing a hogroast at someone's wedding. A clean and tidy, well run pub, mainly aimed at the dining market, as are many!
BeerABVScoreNotes
Arundel - Castle3.80ExcellentOn the pumps as Fox Goes Free Best Bitter, brewed at Arundel.I think it was this.Anyway, a pleasant Best, with a bit more in the way of hops and condition than the Ballard's. Brown, not boring.
Otter - Amber4.00ExcellentA different one, this-spicy, with almost a seaweedy tang.Had a quick half : would like to try more.
Ballards (now a sub-brand of Greyhound) - Best Bitter4.10AcceptableNot in tiptop condition, but a good best bitter, with plenty of malt.Good chestnut colour.
Otter - Ale4.50Not Tried

Lovely old pub, mostly laid up for meals. Traditional bar to one side.Very popular with diners. Meals pricey but decent helpings.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ballards (now a sub-brand of Greyhound) - Best Bitter4.10ExcellentCopper coloured. Initially malty and one dimensional, but after a few minutes the hops won through, leading to a well balanced traditional Best, well capable of coping with the epic steak and kidney pie that we consumed crammed into the inglenook.
Hop Back - Summer Lightning5.00Not TriedWas tempted for old time's sake, but I had serious business to attend to.
Harvey's - Sussex Best Bitter4.00Not TriedThere was also a HouseBeer-I couldn't ascertain its origin.
