Lunchtime with an eclectic mix of punters. As well as the 8 handpumps (all in use) there were a further 8 beers on stillage ready for their Winter Ales Festival which starts this evening. 22 Oct 2011 (Martin the Mildman)
Quite busy late Saturday afternoon.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Belhaven - Howl At The Moon4.00ExcellentActually spelt Howell after the head brewer. As I don't know what style of beer this was supposed to be I shall call it a mild as that's what it was. Dark ruby/brown in colour with a very sweet malt flavour of toffee and chocolate. Very little hop character present. Some berry fruit in the finish. My score 16/20.
22 Oct 2011 (Alenomore)
Found this recently renovated GK pub en-route to the Spa Valley b/f, so, in the interests of "research", we checked it out on our return, and we were not disappointed! Very impressed with the ale range here. Nice place, get there early on I'd say.
BeerABVScoreNotes

Holt's (see also Joseph Holt) - Maple Moon4.80ExcellentNice to see this seasonal from one of the best brewers in the North-West. Just ran out here too but in good condition.
Belhaven - Howl At The Moon4.00GoodSome quick research, and appears to be under the name of Howell's on the clip, as used by Belhaven, the Scottish arm of GK! Not a bad ale though.
