Evening visit - my first to this re-named and rejuvenated house. Interior was very relaxed with a cafe bar feel but clearly the real ale is the centre of attraction with the very friendly locals.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Golden Braid3.70ExcellentMy palate was jaded by mountains of cough sweets but my colleague confirmed it was perhaps the best Braid he had quaffed for a long time
Old Dairy (being contract brewed after it closed) - Blue Top4.80ExcellentWith my palate refreshed this had a full woody flavour

I arrived just after opening time at 14:00 and had a most enjoyable three course meal for just £6, very good value indeed. I did not make a note of all the beers on offer.

Early evening visit for a couple of pints whilst waiting for the CCCP Restaurant to open, and a return later after our Russian meal. We had a good chat with Scheherezade, and sampled some of the amazing nibbles on the bar.

The bar nibbles here are fantastic, the "relatively mild" cheese was amazing, and went well with the Scotch Bonnet jalapenos. Taster glasses were in front of each hand pump.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 54.40ExcellentExcellent, and good value at £2.50 per pint.

I had a good chat with Scheherezade about beers, ecology, and pubs in Ramsgate. Taster glasses of each beer were placed in front of the handpumps. Prices were very reasonable, and I saved 50p as this pub takes Camra Wetherspoon vouchers.

The pub is found in Ramsgate, Kent, CT11 7SP.

Formerly known as the Shakespeare (and the One Hundred & Eighty) this pub in Margate Road has been transformed into a genuine free house and arts centre. It is owned by an opera singer Scheherazade Pesante (so some call the pub Spee's) and specialises in local real ales and ciders. No keg beers or lagers are stocked here. 4 handpumps plus a massive range of boxed ciders on offer. By 2018 seems to have been converted into The Little Tree bed & breakfast with occasional The Great Tree events held.

We have visited this pub 26 times, seen 47 different beers and tried 27 of them.
