Last pub on Ian and my mini-crawl of Canterbury. It was very busy but we got a seat in a side room and watched the first 10 minutes of England vs France.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Whitstable - East India Pale Ale (or EIPA)4.10GoodFresh and in good condition. Hoppy with a flowery bite

Late Sunday PM. Pretty empty. Starting to lose that new smell. Discussed Kent's win with a couple of other people.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Sharp's - Doom Bar4.00AcceptableStrange to have a non Kent beer on, until I read on Ratebeer that Sharps are offering a buy one kilderkin get one free deal. Some caramel. I still find it a rather drinkable best bitter. Bit sweet in mouth maybe, but very good bitter finish.

Looking at the rest of the clienele, I do get the feeling that me and Andrew are not the target audience for this pub/bistro, but whilst they continue to serve Kent micro beers in good condition, I'll keep coming back, even if I don't gel my hair.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Incubus4.00GoodI thought that it was a tad cold, and could have been fuller in the malts, but undoubtedly my best beer of the evening.

Last stop on my tour with Ian. Busy as always but we still got a seat in the snug. One of the pump clips was turned round but it was clearly a Gadd's clip. This is a good pub.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Incubus4.00ExcellentBit cold but still excellent. Lots of watery strawberry and rich watery malt. Subtle hops.
Shepherd Neame - Master Brew Bitter3.70Not TriedBadged as 'Tavern Ale'

Everytime I walk past this place I realise it's bigger than I thought. Anyway, I had half an hour to kill so I popped in to see if they still had local beers on. They did. Jolly good.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50GoodEven though this was the last coughings from the barrel it was good. Much more malt in the flavour than usual and the hops were much more earthy and brown leafy but I put all this down to it being bottom of the barrel.

Created as part of the refit of the County Hotel on the High Street. This pub/bistro has multiple rooms with a couple of quieter rooms. A real fire accompanies some sofas plus there is space to eat and a covered patio area. Pushes local produce (line caught Hythe sea bass was the fish of the day). Still smells a bit new, some paint aroma. but a very cool bistro. Will do well. Four handpumps, only 2 in use.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hopdaemon - Skrimshander IPA4.50ExcellentOne of the nicest pints of Skrimshander that I've had in ages. Lovely red fruit malts/rich. But with balancing earthy hop. Classy

I walked pasted this and when, 'ooh, new bar'. I then spotted a sign saying they served local food and local ale so I went in to see if this was true for the Ale. It was. Well done. Apparently it's only been open 3 weeks.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds') - No. 73.80ExcellentTight husky bitterness with a heathery bite.
