I met up halfway through our Friday Evening Group which actually starts lunchtimes these days, we had a table booked in the marquee in the garden and enjoyed almost exclusive use until late afternoon onwards when many families with children arrived turning the place into a kindergarten.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Gorgeous - Gravedigger5.00ExceptionalRecommended by the barman as just gone on - smooth creamy vanilla nectar without being sickly sweet, such was its popularity we stayed with this for our last three rounds.
Marble - Manchester Bitter4.20ExcellentA premium English bitter in superb condition
Big Smoke - Solaris Session Pale3.80AcceptableI found this syrupy and cloying

Friday mid afternoon and quiet when we arrived a few more arrivals by the time we left. I liked the way the pumps were organised by beer colour from left to right, light to dark.

Evening with a depleted squad of Friday Evening Group types. Saw a rain sodden double mattress flat on the pavement nearby lifted upright against a hedge with several yo-yo movements. Such was the wind.

Comfortable Monday evening. My first visit here and I was very impressed with the selection of ales and ciders. I did not take a note of all beers available so have only listed those I had.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goffs - Black Knight5.30Excellent
Wild Card - Jack of Clubs4.50Excellent
Beerd (experimental side of Bath) - Smokey Scotch Ale4.50ExcellentI reckon the smokiness was just about spot on - enough to tatse but not overpowering.

I walked here from Richmond via Teddington, but arrived about twenty minutes too early. It was full of a rather obnoxious rugby crowd on arrival (give me a pub full of football fans in preference any day). Luckily they pushed off to their game fairly soon and the pub reverted to being something of a family, late Sunday lunch venue.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Art Brew - Hip Hop Pacific Gem4.30ExcellentAnother in this brewery’s single hop series. Golden. Very cloudy. A rather bitter hop taste.
Art Brew - Earth Roots Resin6.00GoodA very unusual, amber-coloured beer. Has alcohol strength and a piney, resinous, spicy taste.
Leadmill - Midnight Express4.00AcceptableA smooth, easy-drinking, chestnut-coloured beer. A little unchallenging.

18 Dec 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Very busy on a Tuesday in the run up to Christmas.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - Black Ice4.10AcceptableHoppy black beer, but without any malt flavours to speak of. Dry, hoppy finish. My score 14/20.
Milestone - Cupid4.40AcceptableGolden ale with a dry, malty flavour. Little hop character but a dry, bitter malty finish. My score 14/20
Arbor Ales - Single Hop Perle4.00AcceptablePale and hoppy with quite an aromatic and sharp, bitter bite. Rather dry finish. My score 14/20.
Franklins - Sussex Best Bitter4.00AcceptableDry, yeasty and bitter but with fairly low hop character. Rather thin tasting with a dry, astringent finish. My score 12/20.
23 Oct 2012 (Martin the Mildman)
Busy on a Tuesday evening with beers turning over almost as fast as being consumed.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Grainstore - Rutland Panther3.40ExcellentPerfect antidote to the previous beer, this was a dark brown mild with a full bodied chocolate and roasted malt character with little hoppiness. My score 16/20.
Dawkins - Bristol Best4.00GoodTraditional amber best bitter with moderate hopping and a stronger malt flavour. My score 15/20.
Rother Valley - Ruby Wheat4.60AcceptableProbably not a wise decision to purchase this as it was a double whammy of crystal and wheat malt. Net result was a strange mix of sweet cloying flavours with a sourness in the finish. My score 12/20.
Acorn - Millenium IPA5.00AcceptableFresh on and probably too soon as there was a slight harshness to the flavours in this, mainly bitter with some grassy hop flavours. My score 14 with B for quality (lacking in maturity).

A visit by the Thursday evening mild drinkers swelled the numbers here. The large garden came in handy too.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Binghams - Doodle Stout5.00ExcellentExcellent dry roasty stout with good roast malt bitterness, a little hoppiness evident leading to a dry, roasty finish. My score 16/20.
Great Heck - Voodoo Mild4.30ExcellentBlacc strong mild with good chocolate malt character with a little roast coffee flavour too. Low hop rate and a dryish chocolate finish. My score 16/20.
Newby Wyke - Black Funnel Mild5.00GoodDark brown/black strong mild with a slight haze. Lacking the full bodied flavour of previous samples, maybe a little too fresh here. My score 15/20 with a B for quality.
Dow Bridge - Gladiator4.50GoodDarker bitter with a fruity hop character and a fruity hop finish. My score 15/20.
13 May 2012 (Stephen Harris)
Busy on Sunday lunchtime – the roast dinners looked divine, the beer selection excellent.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Twickenham (also uses sub-brand Old Hands) - Gothick Dark4.60ExcellentBlack, rich and chocolately, with a fruity finish.
Sadler's (see also Windsor Castle entry) - Sprung3.90ExcellentBeer re-launched this year at a lower strength. Pale and very hoppy.
