Saturday afternoon and a mix of diners and those watching sports on the television screens. I had not been here before and only came in because it was open on a Saturday unlike many of the pubs around here. A surprisingly good selection of beers and prompt friendly service.

Dave R and I came here when we found the nearby Three Kings too busy. Busy here too, but it is a larger space.

A brief visit for a quick half. Pub quite busy, but the manager had time for a chat.

The pub is found in Clerkenwell, Central London, EC1R 0EG.

This pub was present here by the early 18th century and has long been well-known in the area. Nineteenth century notoriety came from the attached Apollo Music Hall and Concert Rooms, whilst Lenin and Stalin are said to have met up for a pint in the back room once in 1905. These days it is better known for its beer and food. There are several rooms at ground and first floor levels, plus an extensive outdoor seating area at the front on Clerkenwell Green.
