Mid evevning and our patience paid off as increasing signs of activicty soon banished fears of a wasted journey. 15+ years since my last and long overdue re-visit to this classic welcoming CAMRA NI pub.

Well worth the effort in seeking out this wonderful unspoilt pub. We thought that the pub opened at 8pm but found it in darkness, we noted that the signs in the window advertised 8.30pm opening so happily stood outside for thirty minutes. A truly unspoilt gem with a friendly welcome and a good crowd of regular customers. We had a pint in the pint in the main bar area and then moved to the darts/dominoes room and took advantage of the warmth from the real fire.

I came at lunchtime but it was closed. Apparently the landlady has not been well. A friendly local in the village said that the landlady's nephew was looking after the pub and it would be open about 8:45pm. So, at 8:30 I set off at a pace from Winster and got there at 8:55. I was the first in. The pub is fantastic. The bar is at the back in a little room with a roaring fire. One of the other rooms has a billiards table and the other a darts board, bench seating and 2 table. Welcome to 1920. I loved it.
