Late evening visit. Pub quiet.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Titanic - Plum Porter4.90ExcellentFaultless.
Truman's - Scorcher4.20AcceptableGolden in colour and supposedly a ‘grapefruit edition’, although challenging hop flavours are a bit difficult to spot.
26 Jun 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Late-evening visit on the way home from a day in Brussels.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Truman's - Two Halves4.20ExcellentA really nice, fruity, golden, Session IPA. Probably contains Truman’s entire hop budget for the summer of 2018.
Truman's - Zephyr4.40AcceptableTasted a little bit rough tonight.
East London (ELB) - Pale Ale4.00Not Tried
23 Jun 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Pit-stop visit at the end of a long weekend. Staff now give me a CAMRA discount here unprompted.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Truman's - Zephyr4.40ExcellentA big smack of hops. Still Truman’s best beer in my opinion.

Mid-evening and it is almost empty in here. A neighbour of mine recognises me and we reminisce about the rough old days of the King Harold pub. Apparently it was very busy here earlier, and there is only one cask beer left.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hammerton - N75.20ExcellentThis is on tip-top form and I linger for a couple.
02 May 2018 (Stephen Harris)
In twenty-five years of occasional usage of this pub I have never seen it so crowded as it was tonight during the televised Roma v Liverpool match. I had no idea there were so many Scousers living in Leyton.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Wild Beer Co. - Bibble4.20AcceptableA very tired pint – on its last legs I suspect.
Dark Star - Hophead3.80Not Tried

A very welcome few late beers after an eight hour drive from Edinburgh to London.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Signature Brew - Roadie - All Night IPA4.30ExcellentThe Citra-hopped version of this beer and it is tasting very good.
East London (ELB) - Quadruped Black APA5.30ExcellentI do like a good Black IPA and this is a good one. Good enough to knock two back in short order.
East London (ELB) - Jamboree4.80Not Tried
11 Mar 2018 (Stephen Harris)
Mid-evening on a Sunday and not as busy as it can be at this time. A lot of roast dinners have been sold today apparently.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Hammerton - N75.20ExcellentA strong, hoppy Pale Ale that matches my mood perfectly.
Signature Brew - Roadie - All Night IPA4.30ExcellentThe Citra-hopped version of this beer and still tasting lovely.

The pub is found in Leyton, Greater London, E15 2BX.

This pub was established in 1887 as the King Harold, replacing the former Grenadier, which had stood further north in Leyton. It was a Savill Brothers pub (the local brewery at the time), eventually passing to Charrington’s. By the turn of the twenty-first century this pub had acquired an exceedingly seedy reputation. To nobody’s surprise, it eventually closed in 2015, but re-opened in July 2016 as the Leyton Star, much refurbished and beautified. It occupies a street corner position, close to Leyton tube station. A large single bar with an upstairs function room (formerly used as a gym). Rear garden. Four handpumps on the bar. CAMRA discount available.

We have visited this pub 50 times, seen 60 different beers and tried 41 of them.
