Tasting Summary

These comments are the opinion of the individual reviewer and represent what they thought of the beer on a particular day in a particular pub. If a review is less favourable, it may be because the beer suffered somewhere in the supply chain between them and the brewery.

Hogan SamplingExcellent05 Jul 2025 A new brewery to me on this visit but has been around since 2005 and a rare mild that you seldom see in the average drinking hole. It is from Lodsworth, almost directly east of Petersfield, and west of Petworth, the latter of which is part of its Google address for the brewery and taproom. Described as being from its core range of beers, it is intended to be on from September to March, and no doubt to reflect it being called a dark chocolate malty winter mild ale. It was presented with a very good head and lacing and which lasted throughout and for me was probably the second best real ale of the day so far. A dry malty first hit. A moreish bitter maltiness pervading the palate. A prevailing malt note or two lingering alongside an appealing dryness to be sure. Perfect!
