| Hogan Sampling | ![]() | 08 May 2026 | 8th beer of the festival visit: Came with good head and lasting lacing on this traditional porter from the Hadrian Border Brewery set up in 1994 and now located in Newcastle upon Tyne, but originally beginning with the take-over of the Border Brewery Company in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Then afterwards it acquired the former Hadrian Brewery’s equipment in 2000, and they relocated to Tyneside, before currently operating out of a custom-built facility in Newburn, an outer village and residential district within the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. A dry bitter first hit. A maltiness rising aided by its Chocolate and Black malts in on the mix of malted barley and rolled oats aiding its creamy texture and rich caramel flavouring. Subtle dark fruits veering up lending a fruity sweetness. A dry coffee-infused roast bitterness sailing out. Served in good form. |
