| Hogan Sampling | ![]() | 06 Dec 2025 | 2nd beer of this visit: I saw others enjoying this and so no question but trying it for myself. It exuded a frothy head and lacing lasting to remind you of this all the way down. It was, from looking at it and doubly sure by tasting it, just recently fresh on. A dry moreish bitter first hit. A hoppiness rising from those Kentish Goldings hops lending it a floral, spicy and slightly honey-infused flavouring. My team of taste buds all gave this ale's hops the thumbs-up for being ideal for lending this ale its rightful bitterness. The merest hint of sweetness detected and which greatly pleased me as I hate any bitter bordering on being overly sweet. I applauded the brewer, who arrived in time for my second half of this bitter and after taking over from the barmaid for the evening shift, for its seasonal spiciness that for me made it extra special compared to his usual good bitters on parade. This ale's bitterness, with just the right hint of spicy hoppiness, without doubt made it my favourite beer of this visit and indeed of this outing's range of ales. |
