WhoScoreWhenNotes
Hogan SamplingGood06 Jun 2026 Good head and lasting lacing on this chocolate and raspberry milk stout from independent, employee-owned Abbeydale Brewery based in Sheffield and first set up in 1996. A very raspberry-infused first hit. A dry fruited bitterness rising with earthy, herbal and slightly spicy notes from its exclusive US Willamette mild aroma hop, named after the Willamette River and its surrounding valley in northwest Oregon, ensuring the overall beer's bitterness remains low, allowing the sweet malts and tart raspberry to take centre stage. A sweet milk chocolate and biscuity, roasted maltiness prevailing and aided by its real cacao nibs, raspberry flavouring and a roasted malt base. Many a sharp, tart burst of raspberry to the fore before sliding downwards. Served in good nick but too sweet for my taste buds.
