Hogan Sampling		20 Jun 2026	1st beer of this visit: Presented with good head and lasting lacing on this limited-edition, golden blond to amber-coloured pale ale brewed by East Anglia’s oldest commercial brewery, first set up in 1795, and in the market town of Sudbury, Suffolk, and often brewed to coincide with major football tournaments like the World Cup. A fruited hoppy first bite. A hoppy fruitiness rising with a citrusy note or two for my taste buds and a subtle tropical fruity tanginess. A white wine grapey hint among its resinous flavours emerging from its mix of traditional UK-grown English hops to bring out a bitterness alongside citrusy notes. A mildly sweet malt finish derived from its traditional English malted barley, much of which is grown directly on the brewery owner's local family estate farm. A dry bitterness winning over and paddling out. In good nick.
