Hogan SamplingExcellent11 Jul 2026 1st beer of this visit: Served with a creamy head and lasting lacing on this dark mild brewed by Brew York, a craft brewery set up in 2016 within the historic city walls of York and now also operating a larger facility in the Osbaldwick area of York. A dry bitter first bite. A malty note rising with flavours of caramel, roasted coffee and toasted nuts delighting my taste buddies and certainly punching above its 3.4% gravity. A blend of dark roasted, caramel and pale malts aiding its colouring and sweet nutty flavouring. A gentle hoppiness joining in and from low-bitterness English hop varieties to balance the malt and sticking to the end in the sailing out. Top notch conditioning.
