Hogan Sampling		12 Sep 2026	Fresh on and exhibiting very good head and lasting lacing on this amber ale with a golden hue from brewing set up in 1993 in Oakham, Rutland, before the brewery relocated to Peterborough, Cambridgeshire in 1998, where it initially operated out of the brewpub, The Brewery Tap, before expanding further to its large-scale commercial brewing facility in the Woodston area in 2006. A hoppy first hit from its blend of three USA-sourced hops, Amarillo behind its tropical peach, passionfruit and citrus orange flavours, Cascade lending its grapefruit bitterness and floral notes, and Chinook aiding its pine resin, earthy, and subtle spiciness for me. A dry fruitiness rising with a hint of citrusy orange, a grapefruit bitterness, and a mix of tropical peach, passionfruit and red berry fruits. A malty bitterness from its Maris Otter emerging, its Wheat Malt aiding the beer’s body and head retention, and Medium Crystal Malt contributing those initial sweet caramel and rich toffee malt flavours for my taste buddies. This aided balancing out its heavy citrus and pine hop bitterness. A dry hoppy, earthy, spicy, herbal and distinct pine resin bitterness sailing out. Served in good order with lasting conditioning.
