Second visit of this Worthing outing: Ticking over with some locals no doubt as well away from Worthing town centre and beach for my early afternoon visit. Opposite West Worthing railway station and a neighbouring micro, the Green Man Ale & Cider House, is just around the corner from West Worthing Station. Friendly prompt service and a choice of high seats out the front and low out the back.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Merakai - Nowt Fancy Best Bitter 4.20GoodThis locally produced traditional English amber bitter from an independent craft brewery* based in Worthing, West Sussex, founded in 2020, came with very good head and lacing and lasting throughout. A fruited first hit. A dry maltiness rising with bready and biscuity flavours. A hoppy fruity infusion delighting my taste buds. The hops are not detailed but likely to be local British varieties like Fuggles or East Kent Goldings giving it a moreishly earthy, spicy touch with floral hints. A very dry hoppiness on the sailing out. Served in very good condition. *Merakai Brewing Company operates a dedicated taproom in the heart of Worthing, which houses their 400-litre 2-vessel brewery with 100kg mashtun at Unit 8, Stanford Square, Worthing BN11 3EZ.

The pub is found in Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 4SS.

This former fabric shop, at 13 Station Parade, Tarring Road, became Worthing’s latest micropub on 1st November 2024. It was so named because the owner had worked as a forester and so the place is very wood-themed with wooden handles for the KeyKegs, wooden panelling and shelving and even wooden planks used for the outside signage. A mixture of high and low tables inside. Four casks and visible through the cold room’s window. Outside tables and seating when clement. Four cask ales available on a visit in March 2026. According to CAMRA, it also has eight ciders, five keg beers* and one lager, plus wines. There are always some local producers behind the beer and cider offerings and usually a dark ale on. Canned beers and cider to drink inside or take away also on offer. Card/mobile device payment only. Last orders announced with a Paiste Gong instead of the usual bell and a world-renowned, handcrafted instrument used in orchestral music and rock. Made in Germany, these gongs are crafted from a specialised nickel-silver alloy using traditional hand-hammering techniques. *KeyKeg is a widely used distribution system for craft beer, designed to keep beverages "brewery-fresh" by separating the liquid from the dispensing gas. Popular for sensitive styles like IPAs, Saisons and Sour beers because its airtight inner bag prevents oxidation and preserves delicate hop aromas.

We have visited this pub once, seen 4 different beers and tried 1 of them.
