19th Bexley Beer Festival 2026, Bexley, Greater London

Hogan SamplingGood08 May 2026 6th beer of the festival visit: Came with a very good head and lasting lacing on this traditional English Best Bitter from Lakedown Brewing Company, an independent microbrewery set up in 2020 and with its on-site taproom launched in August 2021 on a 600-acre family farm in Burwash, East Sussex, and notably co-founded by Jamie Daltrey, the son of The Who frontman, Sir Roger Daltrey. A hoppy first bite. A fruity bitterness climbing with a biscuity and caramel malt sweetness joining in from 7 locally produced local grains, primarily barley and wheat. A fruity hoppiness prevailing from its UK Pioneer, Cascade and Jester hops lending it a touch of herbal tea and citrus for me before sliding out. Served in good nick.

Hogan SamplingGood28 Mar 2026 3rd beer of this visit: Good head and lacing lasting all the way on this East Sussex best bitter from the independent, family-run brewery and taproom located in the scenic Wealden valley at Burwash, east of Robertsbridge. A fruity bittered first hit. A dry bitterness winning through with a biscuity maltiness from its blend of 7 different grains. A fruity hoppiness pervading from its three British varieties: UK Pioneer, UK-grown Cascade and Jester, and lasting in its passage out. In good condition and very quaffable.
