We hadn't planned on coming here but Mike wanted to pop in, so we did. We planned on having a half but on seeing Black Cat Mild that quickly turned to a pint. Other than the Marble Arch, this pub had the best interior of all the pubs I visited in Manchester.

Day Three of my Gtr. Manch. "jolly". 17:00 visit. Late start today as I did a lot the day before! Very quiet. This was the quietest evening in Manchester for my trip this week. Nice to see the old place. 12 times previous a gbg entry in 1978/9/84-6/96/2002/4-8

Again, awiner and very good. A house ale I've not had before and noted the Tetley's name on the clip which, I believe is brewed by Marston's in Burton-on-Trent.

Crystal clear golden brown in colour. Malty bitter with a creamy head. Decent.
The pub is found in Manchester, Greater Manchester, M1 5LE.
Proper 'pub' split into several rooms, in Great Bridgewater Street. Situated by itself between railway, tram viaduct and roads. Fireplaces give homely feel. Amazing whisky selection. In 2024 Star Pubs & Bars is intending to end the lease of licensee Allan Hudd and bring the pub under their managed public house portfolio but he is taking court action to challenge this.
We have visited this pub 5 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 4 of them.
