Mid afternoon busy most tables taken I decided to opt for a free two seater adjacent to the bar rather than the soulless empty conservatory. Would've been a pleasant relaxed atmosphere had there not been a screeching child present, thanks to this I decided to stay for just the one.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Goddards - Ale of Wight3.70AcceptableI was spoilt with my previous pint of this in Sandown. Over chilled and acetic.
Yates' (Isle of Wight) (some beers brewed at Goddards) - Santa's Ale4.90Not Tried

Evening's last stop. Peace and tranquility and a touch of class. Amazingly not in the top 10 of the local CAMRA branch's Pub of the Year competition yet I find it the most consistent, reasonably priced real ale venue on the island and with its long history of selling local ales going back to Burt's days.

2010 hours visit and last before the boat back to the mainland. Apart from 'Spoon's (which was not selling any Island brews anyway) was the cheapest Island beer I encountered at £3.00 pp.

The pub is found in Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 2LG.

Located in Union Street several minutes of tiring walk up from the Esplanade into the commercial centre of the town. A long standing real ale institution is the bar at the rear which is open to residents and non-residents alike. Probably the classiest real ale "joint" in Ryde if not on the whole island. For longer than anyone can remember it has sold Bass and a locally brewed ale. In the early days of CAMRA it was an easy place to find Burt's beers usually only otherwise really available in the south and west of the island being Ventnor based. 3 handpumps.

We have visited this pub 9 times, seen 5 different beers and tried 1 of them.
