21 Sep 2012 (Stephen Harris)
We had an enjoyable, English-language tour of this old brewery and an extensive tasting of their products.
BeerABVScoreNotes
Brasserie Friart - St Feuillien Saison6.50ExcellentFrom the bottle. A classic, orange, cloudy, yeasty, Wallonian ‘farmyard’ beer.
Brasserie Friart - St Feuillien Cuvée de Noel9.00GoodThe keg 2012 version of this Christmas beer that I tried was a little harsh and perhaps still rather green – it had only been released the previous day. People who tried the bottled 2011 version found it more mellow. It is a strong, brown beer with spicy, herbal, aniseed flavours.
Brasserie Friart - St Feuillien – Triple8.50GoodA golden, strong ale.

The pub is found in Le Roeulx, Belgium, 7070.

A village-centre, tower brewery built in 1873. The original buildings remain in use and there is much antique equipment still pressed into service. In many ways it is a living museum. By early 2013 it will be a real museum, as a larger, modern brewing plant is under construction next door. Because of the village centre location, the noisy business of bottling is sub-contracted out to the Roman Brewery, with only the hand-bottling of speciality large bottles handled on site. The brewery has a pleasant tasting room and visits can be arranged.

We have visited this pub once, seen 3 different beers and tried them all.
