Early evening I had the comfortable bar area to myself. 80's music softly playing in the background made for a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.
Oldershaw - Heavenly Blonde | 3.80 | | Unexpectedly in superb condition hoppy bitter straw coloured ale |
Oldershaw - Newton's Drop | 4.10 | Not Tried
02 Dec 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Lunchtime for a former workplace annual get together. Each year less working, more retired. Fine function room traditional Christmas Dinner with real ale brought to the table if needs be, which it was of course.
Oldershaw - Newton's Drop | 4.10 | | Ok, perhaps a bit fresh and frothing |
Oldershaw - Regal Blonde | 4.40 | Not Tried
28 Oct 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening in the hotel bar as the Angel Bar only opens at weekends unfortunately. Substantial CAMRA members' discount has been introduced here.
Oldershaw - Old Boy | 4.80 | | Tight creamy head |
Oldershaw - Caskade | 4.20 | Not Tried
17 Aug 2014 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening in the hotel bar. Just a threesome playing cards at a table. The Angel Bar only opens on Friday and Saturday nights these days.
Oldershaw - Newton's Drop | 4.10 | | First out for a long time I aver but still quite good |
Oldershaw - Mowbray's Mash | 3.70 | Not Tried
27 Aug 2013 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Nearly walked away as the Angel Bar was in darkness. Nosed into the other bar and found 2 handpumps and some good conversation with a former Marston's licensee from their Hampshire patch.
Oldershaw - Barkston Bitter | 3.60 | | Darker Oldershaw beer |
23 Dec 2012 (Stephen Harris)
The only pub I remember fondly from a visit to Grantham several years ago. Both bars are closed and I appear to be the only potential customer in the early evening – but I am invited to take my poison in the comfort of the hotel lounge, in a deep armchair next to the fireplace. Bliss, after a long weekend and with quite a few hiking miles in my boots. My eyes may even have closed momentarily.
Oldershaw - Hollydaze | 4.10 | | Pale gold in colour – a nice, mellow, fruity, hoppy pint, enhanced by the surroundings. |
