Early afternoon visit. It’s chilly and windy and the outside area is deserted. But it is busy with Sunday diners within.

The pub is found in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 2JB.
A large, riverside pub and hotel which stands a little outside Walton, in an idyllic location next to Sunbury Weir and Locks and directly alongside Sunbury Lock Island. Originally the New Inn, it took its current name in 1875. The old pub was destroyed by fire in 1904 and was rebuilt as the extensive Edwardian property we see today. There is a large outside seating area for good weather. At the time of writing (June 2013) this stretch of riverfront is subject to plans to develop a hydro-electricity generating plant, which are being vigorously opposed by the pub’s owners and customers.
