Passed this by chance on a cycle ride about 11:30 am - just had to wait until it opened. Perfectly unspoilt country pub with 3 ales straight from the barrel. Log fire and a steady stream of regulars in the first 20 mins - like a Sunday lunchtime used to be.

The barrel was well tipped but this was the best Adnams I have had in many years. The dry hopping was more and more evident in each pint. Lovely stuff.
Batemans - Summer Swallow

Very fresh on, but on the day the Adnams was the best.
Woodforde's - Wherry

Past its best.

Quiet inside but some sort of game going on in the garden attracting some attention.

We sat in the raised area to the right of the bar. Only 2 other customers were in and they were standing at the bar watching the rugby.

The pub is found in Plaxtol, Kent, TN15 0PT.
Very attractive split level pub on the lane north of the village of Plaxtol, well signposted from the main road. The beers are served on gravity from the cask behind the bar. Rare outlet for 3-4 real cask ciders. There is a nice garden opposite with a play area for children. Exposed wood beams and whitewashed wall interior and a real fire in the main bar. Listen out for the fowl that inhabit the back garden. Closed in September 2016 and licence surrendered. Plans have been submitted to change use to a coffee shop.
We have visited this pub 6 times, seen 10 different beers and tried 9 of them.
