St Stephen's Tavern (Hall & Woodhouse)
Visits Details
29 Jun 2018 (Philip Pirrip)
Well packed still at 11pm. Service slow though with a seeming imbalance in personnel between the two bars. Very mucky all around outside the pub and environs.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Best Bitter (was 3.7%) | 3.40 | | Lacking something, very thin although a tad of bitterness came through |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - The Fursty Ferret | 4.40 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Tanglefoot (was 4.9%) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Hall & Woodhouse (see and use Badger entries) - Old Harry's Pale Sail | 4.50 | Not Tried | No brewing provenance on the pump clip which was a plastic plaque attached to a black backboard by a bulldog clip, obviously some sort of brewery house style for seasonals |
18 Oct 2016 (Philip Pirrip)
Late evening visit.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Glorious Game | 3.80 | | With 3 Slovenian hops. £4.40 pp is excessive for such low abv |

Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - First Call | 4.00 | Not Tried
16 Jun 2016 (Andrew)

12 Jul 2015 (Philip Pirrip)
Evening. Ambience ruined by perfume of vinegared traditional tourist trap fish and chips. I say caffs for grub and pubs for beer.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - First Call | 4.00
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - King & Barnes Sussex | 3.50 | Not Tried | No go as deceptive at point of sale with not a jot of true Blandford Forum provenance. The legal rules need to be changed to outlaw this |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Tanglefoot (was 4.9%) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Firkin Fox | 4.60 | Not Tried
30 Jun 2015 (Jack William)
Two visits either side of an invite into the Commons (I'd like to say for lobbying about real ale - but it was actually a pensions award presentation - only alcolhol can see one through that).
Busy with tourists at 6, less busy and a good local London feel at 8:30. Great decor - I love the ceiling, about 30 foot above, and the etched mirrors.
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Firkin Fox | 4.60 | | Dry, crisp and very tasty. |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - King & Barnes Sussex | 3.50 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Tanglefoot (was 4.9%) | 4.70 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - First Call | 4.00 | Not Tried

A cheeky lunchtime pint. This pub and myself have something in common; we are both named after something that is named after the Biblical martyr Saint Stephen. In the pub’s case it is named after St Stephen’s Tower, just over the road. In my case, I am named after St Stephen’s Church in Lewisham (keep that last bit to yourselves, it’s not widely known).
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Best | 4.00 | | Ages since I last drank this. Quite pleasant, with subdued First Gold hop character. |
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - King & Barnes Sussex | 3.50 | Not Tried
Badger (Hall & Woodhouse) - Tanglefoot (was 4.9%) | 4.70 | Not Tried
