Saw this from across the water last Saturday and thought we’d give it a try. WhatPub says “ Now a dining pub, hotel, conference and wedding venue. Believed to serve Sheps beers. You are strongly advised to contact the venue before travelling there as it is sometimes closed for functions.” I didn’t and it was - wedding underway - we couldn’t get in - didn’t appear to have any real ales on.

Clear skies meant we could sit out and look at Faversham marshes on the other side of the channel. The pub was busy with what looked like a wedding party.

A couple of weeks ago we had visited Oare and my wife wanted to visit the "other side" of Harty ferry. Various review sites indicated that this was not a "drinkers establishment" but we decided to visit anyway. Just the Spitfire on handpump with another turned round so I plumped for the Erdinger Weissbier to quench my thirst. I followed this up with an excellent pint of Johnson's Cider made on the Isle of Sheppey.

We arrived around 2pm on a day were we couldn't see more than 100m because of the rain. The pub, although in the middle of nowhere, had a good number of dinners in and, judging by the size of the car park, must be busy in the summer.

The Ferry House Inn is found at the end of a long narrow country road on the south side of the Isle of Sheppey facing on the River Swale. It overlooks the jetty for the old Harty ferry to the mainland. The pub has a number of sections to it all with pine furniture and bare wooden floor boards. It has accommodation and seems to specialise in weddings and events. Long narrowish bar with two handpumps and lots of keg beers. Has an extensive patio at the front of the premises. Check with venue before travelling far as often it is fully booked for a private event and so closed to casual visitors that day.
